And I thought Spongebob Skidmarks was a simpleminded cartoon... But today I learned how much our young learn from this idiotic character... a character who cries in water, incessantly repeats the same thing over and over ad nauseam, purportedly "lives under the sea" when we can plainly see he lives IN the sea. This cartoon proposes SO many other irritating and ridiculous actions and ideas that I have seriously thought it could cause severe brain damage. But... Spongebob has been redeemed today. As I watched the Copenhagen Philharmonic orchestra break into Ravel's "Bolero" in a flash mob in the Copenhagen Central Train Station, See Video , I was caught by surprise by my granddaughter, Danielle. She was in another room as the concert video played on my computer. Her mom, Melissa, said, "What is that... an oboe?" Danielle responded, "No, a clarinet!" Her mom asked, "How do you know?" Danielle responded, "Squidward plays a clarinet." So much for thinking they can't learn anything from cartoons even as stupid as Spongebob, huh?
